Marek Sarna

Dr Marek Jacek Sarna is affiliated to the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center at the Polish Academy of Sciences where he holds the post of director. Born in Warsaw in 1955, he is married and has one child.

Education:

1974-79: undergraduate of astronomy at the Warsaw University;
1979: MSc. astronomy (Warsaw University)
1987: PhD astrophysics (N. Copernicus Astronomical Center)
1994: ScD. astrophysics (Warsaw University)

1980 -- 1982 : civil servant in the Administration Office
1983 - 1987 : assistant at the N. Copernicus Astronomical Center
1987 -- 1996 : research associate at the N. Copernicus Astronomical Center
1986 -- 1987 : visiting astronomer at the Astrosovet AN USSR, Moskov
1987 -- 1988 : Max-Planck Institut f\"ur Astrophysik, Garching, Germany (post-doc)
1991 -- 1993 : Astronomy Center, University of Sussex, Brighton, England (research fellow)
1996 - present : Associate professor at the N. Copernicus Astronomical Center
1995 - 1998 : Deputy Director of N. Copernicus Astronomical Center
1998 - present : Director of the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center, Polish Academy of Sciences.
