Charl du Plessis

Electronics Engineer
After leaving school Charl had to chose between studying drama at the University of Pretoria or Electrical engineering at Technicon Pretoria. He naturally choose the Engineering as he could not see himself performing on the big stage.

Later he went to UNISA and started with a BSc degree choosing various subjects. Astronomy in particular caught his interest and he continued with this as his major. It is for this reason that he took a position at SAAO and SALT. Currently Charl is still registered with UNISA and would like to continue his studies. Being part of the biggest and greatest telescope in the Southern hemisphere is an opportunity of a lifetime, something he couldn't let slip by.
